SIU = racist?
According to an article posted over at FindLaw, the justice department could end up filing a lawsuit against southern illinois university for racial discrimination… against white kids!

Federal prosecutors are threatening to sue Southern Illinois University over three small graduate school scholarship programs aimed at women and minorities, saying they were discriminatory.
SIU “has engaged in a pattern or practice of intentional discrimination against whites, non-preferred minorities and males,” the Justice Department said in a letter. A copy of the letter was obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The graduate scholarships, or fellowships, violate Title VII of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, the department said. The letter demands SIU discontinue the fellowship programs or its civil rights division will sue the university by Nov. 18.
could it be true that america is coming to her senses and realizing that racism and racial discrimination don’t necessarily originate from people with white skin? or that racism can even be directed toward white people? perhaps the end of this time where the weak minded cry ‘racism’ in the absence of a sensible argument could be drawing near. one can only hope.

In related news, last year, SIU’s chapter of the NAACP protested the announcement that SIU was planning to raise the minimum ACT score requirement from 18 or 19 to 24 (from memory.. may be inaccurate figures). This was reported on Channel 3 news out of Marion IL. They interviewed several members as they marched around holding signs with their personal ACT scores (all of which were below the proposed minimum) and they proclaimed that this was a direct attempt to limit the number of black people on their campus.
What are these members saying about their race? Is it the universities fault they scored lower than the new suggested minimum? Where is personal responsibility and how the hell could this, in any way, be related to race?
America is the dumbest country in the world. How embarassing it is to be associated with a country blanketed in an “it’s not my fault” attitude.
I wonder what the reaction to a White Male only scholarship would be. Apparently, we white males get all the opportunities in the world. Right… if that were the case, I wouldn’t have $25k+ in student loans.

Isn’t it crazy that ultimately the racial equation in schools has been “MORE!” than leveled and now its starting to swing back around full circle. Why don’t we just completely drop it from admissions criteria and have admitance based solely on peronal and academic merit? That would be too difficult though I’m sure.
