dear father, why do you tempt me so?
my dad loves sending me ads for cars that i want but can’t afford. constantly. to add insult to injury, they’re usually not that far out of my reach, and often an amazing deal (he has a knack for finding those). anyway, yesterday i opened my inbox to find this little gem staring me in the face:
it’s a 1963 ford fairlane. my dad knows that i’ve been wanting one of these for quite some time now. the description that accompanied the pictures in the email only enhanced the draw of this car. even though it isn’t an FE, i can’t be picky about 501 cubic inches of big block goodness. please dear reader, read on…
The engine began with a D0VE-A thick main web block and bored .030″ for the
Eagle 501 stroker kit with flat top JE pistons. The rotating assembly was
balanced. The cam is a CompCam solid roller cam with .663″ lift and 300
duration on both intake and exhaust. The heads are the Kassee Super CoberJet
heads with 1.625″ K-motion H11 springs, CompCams stainless roller rockers
and Jomar stud girdle. The heads were left unported with only mior clean up
since the intended purpose of the engine wasn’t racing. The intake is a
Blute Thunder 2×4 dual plane with 2 Holley 1850-1 600 cfm carbs with the
427FE linkage topped with the Crites Tbolt style air cleaner and hoses.
Distributor is an MSD billet. Crites headers were sent off and coated and
connect to a 3″ exhaust with X crossover. The transmission is a full roller bearing C4 with the JW Ultrabell to mate
it to the BBF. PA auto valvebody (not reverse nor manual shift). Hardened
input shaft, Alto red clutches with 6 clutches in each drum. Speedometer is
connected via one of the Boss 302/Boss429/429CJ/SCJ gear reducers. The
driveshaft uses a Mark Williams billet yoke with 1350 u-joints on both ends.
The convertor is a Precission Industries 9.5″ with 2400-2800 stall and is
very streetable. B&M deep pan with external fluid filter.
so how much does this guy want for this car? $12,500. unbelievable. anyway, here are the rest of the pictures.
