network solutions sucks

i have to say, i have been very unhappy with network solutions. i’ve been working pretty hard this week because i’m trying to get ready to roll out a totally new website for the fab shop (you can take a peek at the new site here). i’m using wordpress and gallery2 to provide the backend for the site, and i have had nothing but problems. that in itself is weird, because i’ve been using the same combo and the same exact versions of software for my web site and the one i’m setting up for my dad, both with no problems. so it has to be their servers. speaking of which, their servers are slow. like really slow, to the tune of 12-15 seconds of delay before a page even begins to load. they don’t allow ssh access, they don’t give you access to error logs… the list goes on.

anyway, the point of this is: if you’re looking for web hosting and domain registration, stay far away from network solutions. i’ve been using tosdomains.net for domain registration and hostingplex for hosting (thanks kelsey) and couldn’t be happier with both of them.

Dreamhost is pretty hardcore as well. they just bumped my storage to 20 gb and 1TB/mo download. $9.95/mo and cheaper w/ prepay.

hey I use http://www.hostingplex.com too! They have good uptime and prices are definitely comparable. I have been with them for over 3 years and had no problems!

    Cheers!

I use http://www.netfirms.com for domain registration. $7.99 for this first single-year registration, $9.95 each year after that with decent discounts for buying 2+ years just like anywhere else. Their panel’s alot like GoDaddy – actually all around they’re pretty much GoDaddy for a couple bucks less. For hosting I use http://www.angryhosting.com – cheap, reliable, generous. I’ve got all the major languages supported, and I host my 4 sites and their 5 databases on the same $5 per month. You can be good to go for a buck or two in most cases and you can add any services/space/bandwidth by small or large increments easily.
