send a brick

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

The Send-A-Brick Project was created by concerned citizens to send bricks to Washington encouraging our Congressmen to stand tough on border security.

We want to send the message to our Senators and Representatives that citizens want our borders secured before any other action is taken on illegal immigration.

Please Send A Brick to your Congressmen today and let them know that you want a comprehensive border security plan that includes:

  • A security wall along the entire southern border
  • Better technology for customs and border operations
  • More funding and personnel for our Border Patrol
  • An overall increased security presence on our southern border.

When our border is secure, only then can we talk about other aspects of illegal immiration

We are tired of open borders, uncontrolled immigration, terrorist infiltration, the spread of pandemic diseases, criminal alien gangs and all the other horrors that can arise due to our defenseless borders and unenforced immigration laws.

the gubbament knows best

i came across a couple articles that were talking about some recent studies on the effect of red-light cameras in various cities around the country. one of the articles had this to say about a town in maryland:

Upon installation, the cameras caused an immediate 40 percent increase in rear-end collisions from 53 in 1999 to 74 in 2000. Overall accidents were up between 25 percent and 41 percent from 107 in 1999 to 134 in 2001 and 151 in 2002.

it’s no wonder as i’ve been saying for years that most traffic enforcement is aimed at generating revenue rather than actually keeping the public safe. it’s also not entirely different from one other such area where the government (with a lot of public support) has done whatever they wanted without any regard for public safety, and that is gun control.

some of you may know that every year, the brady campaign (remember the brady bill?) releases a nationwide report card grading each state on its gun laws. generally speaking, the stricter the gun control the higher the grade. upon inspection of this year’s grades, i wondered to myself how the grades would compare to the violent crime rates in each state. so what i did was convert the grades to a numeric scale which i then entered into excel along with the violent crime rates for each state and then made a graph comparing the two. here’s what i came up with:

the graph is a little confusing, but i’ll explain. i arranged the states by their brady grades, highest scores on the left to the lowest scores on the right represented by the blue area. each corresponding state’s violent crime rate is represented by the red area. as you can see, on average the states with the lowest brady scores also had the lowest crime rates and the states with the highest brady scores had the highest crime rates.

if gun control increases violent crime, why are there so many people in favor of it? why does the brady campaign openly push for legislation that is guaranteed to increase violent crime? why the gubbament be all up in my bidness? i suspect they’re mostly just idiots, but i’m sure some have alterior motives considering that almost every instance in history of a nation being disarmed preceded genocide, forced relocation or at the very least a staggering loss of freedom at the hands of a fascist police state.
