nhra hot rod reunion ’06
last weekend i was lucky enough to attend the nhra hot rod reunion in bowling green, ky. it’s an event that gives guys like me a chance to see what drag racing was like when my dad was in his twenties and gives him a chance to relive some of the higher points of his younger years. it was a great weekend of racing and my dad took plenty of pictures. you can view all of them in the gallery, but here are a few of my favorites.
this is one of the thunderbolts we saw. i never thought i’d actually get to see a real one, but there were a couple of them there.
here’s some more stuff that falls under the category of “things i never thought i’d get to see in real life.” the first couple pictures are a mercury cyclone powered by a 427 cammer. the last picture is another cammer powered car, but you can see where the engine has been shoved back almost behind the firewall. if you look in the car, the driver actually sits where the back seat should be.
here’s a hemi powered belvedere we found when we walked out of our hotel room and two sox and martin race cars. be sure and check out the rest of the pictures.
