a new camaro for 2009?

Thursday, December 8th, 2005

i think the image pretty much speaks for itself. it’s a leaked picture of the 2009 camaro concept. there are other pictures floating around which i might post a little later. what do you think? can it compete with the mustang? the new challenger? how much power should it have? how much should it cost?

dear father, why do you tempt me so?

my dad loves sending me ads for cars that i want but can’t afford. constantly. to add insult to injury, they’re usually not that far out of my reach, and often an amazing deal (he has a knack for finding those). anyway, yesterday i opened my inbox to find this little gem staring me in the face:

it’s a 1963 ford fairlane. my dad knows that i’ve been wanting one of these for quite some time now. the description that accompanied the pictures in the email only enhanced the draw of this car. even though it isn’t an FE, i can’t be picky about 501 cubic inches of big block goodness. please dear reader, read on…

nmra world finals

Friday, October 7th, 2005

i’m a little late on this update, but better late than never right? i got to go see the nmra world finals at beech bend raceway park in bowling green, ky last saturday, and i had a great time. i can’t get over how nice of a facility beech bend raceway is. all the seating is covered, it’s a 1/4 mile track and the track prep is always top notch.

this is the 2005 mustang of joel greathouse. he took the win in the outlaw 10.5w class last weekend. i got to see this car run 7.06 @ 201mph. it was absolutely incredible. here are a couple other pictures from the event.

on the left is pro 5.0 winner don walsh jr’s car and on the right is the drag radial class runner up chris tuten’s car. credit for the photos goes to the nmra and andrew of turbomustangs.com.

ford has a better idea…

Sunday, September 11th, 2005

i spent this weekend at my parents’ house in illinois helping my dad work on the cars. we dropped the engine and transmission into the racecar to mock everything up so dad can start fabricating the clutch linkage, motor mounts and some other miscellaneous things.

for those of you who haven’t heard about the car yet, it’s a 66 fairlane being built with a real 427 wedge and a 4 speed toploader to race nostolgia super stock. it’s a replica of a car that was raced in super stock during the 60s and 70s called the going thing.

i believe the saying went, “ford has a better idea, it’s the going thing.” we also did a little routine maintenance on the mustang.

all in all, i think we made some pretty good progress. now i’m off to get cleaned up and take a nap before i head back to nashville.

it has begun…

get a load of this:

brad1 brad2

brad brand has put together what is the first (at least to my knowledge) turbocharged big block car to be campaigned in the all-ford racing world. from what i understand, the car is a 700ci big block utilizing twin 88mm turbos to produce over 2500hp at only 12psi of boost. un-freaking-believable. you can find discussion, more pictures and possibly more information in this thread on the hardcore mustang drag racers forum.
