If you’re having trouble viewing the above video, you can download a 2.2 megabyte Ogg Theora version of Steel Targets are a Bad Thing™. Here’s the description that was emailed to me along with the video:
This is incredible. It almost made the Darwin Awards. The guy is shooting an AR-50. Watch the dust when he fires. The target, a steel plate, was 100 yards away. You can hear the ping of the hit, then the bullet comes back and hits his earmuffs on his head. The footage is amazing. You can hear the bullet as it tumbles through the air on its course back toward the shooter. He’s lucky it hit the dirt first. He is okay, and obviously very lucky. The bullet grazed his temple. What a difference a half an inch makes!
And, if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably be looking for more info on the Armalite AR-50.
I know some of you have probably already seen this, but for those who haven’t, this is a great explanation of what it means to be free. It really helps to put into perspective the things that we as a society very often lose sight of. The animation is several minutes long and about 1 megabyte in size, so you may need to set aside some time if you intend to watch it. Click below to watch…
I’m not sure myself, to tell you the truth, but it has been long enough to notice that I’ve heard the same song more than once. That and to go ahead and make a list of the songs I’ve heard which have now been repeating themselves for an hour or so. They apparently play randomly rather than in some defined order, but so far I’ve heard…

Cyndi Lauper – Time After Time
Belinda Carlisle – Heaven Is a Place on Earth
Bob Dylan – The Times They Are A-Changin’
Kool & The Gang – Fresh
Martha and the Vandellas – Dancing in the Street

The Romantics – Talking In Your Sleep
Cyrkle – Red Rubber Ball
Eric Clapton – Layla (Unplugged)
Sade – Smooth Operator
Enya – Orionoco Flow
Buddy Holly – That’ll Be the Day
The La’s – There She Goes
The Bangles – Walk Like an Egyptian
Gladys Knight & The Pips – I’ve Got to Use My Imagination
